Tim & Robert's Family

Tim has been taken care of  birds for over 30 years now. Throughout the years Tim has cared for over 500 birds from finches to macaws. Although he did not technically operate a rescue, he quickly became known in local circles as the "Birdman " and consequentially has rescued many birds and found them loving homes. Now with HealthiPet Network, Tim plans on applying his expertise with birds to help run the overflow rescue.

Robert has been involved with birds and bird care for the past 8 years. He has knowledge and experience with all types of birds ranging from budgies to macaws. His hands-on philosophy will be a great addition to the Network.

I'm StillI'm Still Here

I was near you, by your bed last night; I came to have a peek

I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep

I chattered to you softly as you brushed away a tear.

"It's me, I haven't left you.  I'm well.  I'm fine.  I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast.  I watched you pour the tea.

You were thinking of the many times your hands reached out to me.

I was with you at my grave today.  You tend it with such care.

I want to reassure you, that I am not lying there.

I flew with you back towards the house.  As you fumbled for your key,

I gently touched you with a feather, I smiled and said, "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know that I was perching there.

It's possible for me to be so near you every day

To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, and then smiled.  I think you knew

In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over-I smile and watch you yawning

And say, "Good night, God bless.  I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide

I'll fly across to greet you and we'll enter side by side.

I have many things to show you.  There is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

I was near you, by your bed last night; I came to have a peek.

I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I chattered to you softly as you brushed away a tear,

"It's me, I haven't left you. I'm well. I'm fine. I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast. I watched you pour the tea.

You were thinking of the many times your hands reached out to me.

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know that I was perching there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday

To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, and then smiled. I think you knew

In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over - I smile and watch you yawning

And say, "Good night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,

I'll fly across to greet you and we'll enter side by side.

Tim and Precious, an Umbrella Cockatoo. Precious was a beautiful, friendly, outgoing `Too that recently left this world to join other companions across the Rainbow Bridge after spending her entire life of15 years in Tim's family.

Some of Tim & Robert's kids at play on their homemade play gym.

A view from the outside of the built-in aviary.  French doors leading into aviary and bird room.

Tim is with Lexi on the left.  Lexi is our shelter Blue & Gold Macaw.  She came to us severely abused with two broken legs, one in two places, both claws deformed from overbreeding, her right carpal joint is dislocated, and she was severely malnourished.  She is doing much better now and is such a sweetheart.  She will remain with us forever.  On the right is Robert with Attie, our Shamrock Macaw.

Tim and Cali, an extremely large calico macaw. Cali is very friendly to humans, but very destructive to anything non-human!  Robert with Paco, our blue-fronted Amazon.

This is Gryphon, a female blue and gold macaw. She is a rescue that Tim adopted from Texas. She was born with no claws and only one toe as a result of over breeding.  Tim was told that she would never learn to perch, but look how beautifully she perches now!  This just goes to show what all a little love and patience can conquer.   Tim worked so hard with Gryphon and immediately fell in love with her, so he had no choice but to pay the fee and adopt her as one of his own.

Tim and a few of his feathered friends posing pretty.   They were all so well behaved.  That's why it only took about 8 hours to finally get a shot that would work.  LOL

Bonzo is a gorgeous Military Macaw.  Tim swears he has the most perfect feathers he has ever seen on any bird.  Hmm, perhaps a little partiality there, you think?  LOL

Tim with Kiwi, an awesome Greenwing Macaw.  Tim raised Kiwi from a hatchling and was his first macaw ever.  Kiwi is now 15 years old and definitely a "Gentle Giant "......with Tim that is.  LOL

Tim and Paco, a fifteen year old Blue-Fronted Amazon that has been with Tim since his hatch date.   Paco is a beautiful example of how gorgeous Amazons can be.  He is also an excellent talker and mimicker.   Tim lives on one of the main emergency routes in town so Paco has developed quite an array of very convincing emergency sirens.

Attie is a Shamrock Macaw and is Tim's smallest macaw.  She is adorable and such a baby.  She loves to cuddle and dotes on attention.  Obviously she gets plenty of that with Tim.

Waldo on the left is our sun conure.  He is a gorgeous array of bright colors and perfect feathers.  Quite a beautiful little fellow.  Tim is with Elmer here.  He is a 10 year old Congo African Grey.  He is a great mimicker and a gorgeous perfectly feathered Grey.

Tim and Lucy, an 11 year old female Red Sided Eclectus.  She was said to be mentally handicapped when we first got her, but we do not think she is.  She seems to be getting along just fine now, so it may have just been an improper diet since that can cause a lot of problems with Eclectuses. Tim loving on Sammy, a gorgeous Moluccan Cockatoo with perfect feathering and beautiful coloration.  Sammy is 12 years old.

Here is Tim and his Canine companion, Auggie, commonly known as Auggie Doggie by friends and family.  He is a registered apricot Toy Poodle.  (and yes, that is Tim with hair.  Still not much of it but more than what we are currently used to.)  LOL
